VERNON CENTER — A man allegedly had a blood alcohol level nearly six times the legal limit when he drove off Highway 169 into a farm field.
Peder Roy Tryhus, 37, of Mankato, was charged with gross misdemeanor DWI this week in Blue Earth County District Court.
A witness reported Tryhus was northbound on Highway 169 north of Vernon Center and veered off the road Saturday night. Tryhus went into a ditch and then into a plowed field where he got stuck, the charges allege.
Tryhus reportedly couldn't walk or stand and spoke incoherently. A preliminary breath test allegedly showed an alcohol level of 0.37. A blood sample after Tryhus was taken to a hospital allegedly showed his blood alcohol level had risen to 0.46.
