The hum of farm equipment heading back and forth across the fields, or jockeying between fields, reminds me that fall is here.
Of course, the recent dip in temps has also been a quick reminder that fall is upon on.
I know that with the onset of fall, winter can’t be too far off, but I still love this time of year.
Everything is so crisp, and this is what farmers work all year for — to see just how the year of toiling has paid off. Certain areas of Minnesota received sparingly little rain over the summer, so it will be interesting to see what that will mean to yields.
There have been a few years in recent memory where we thought the dry summer, or at least dry at the worst times, would mean a minuscule crop. But once the combines hit the fields, there was a pleasant surprise of a bin-buster.
What will 2009 harvest bring?
We’ll have to see when the grain starts going in the bins.
I love this time of year.
