ST. PAUL — The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is seeking candidates to replace 18 vacant positions on five commodity research and promotion council boards. Candidates will be selected through mail ballot elections to be held in March.
The Barley, Beef, Corn, Soybean and Wheat Councils will supply a mail ballot election to fill vacancies on their boards. The candidate registration deadline is Feb. 8. These farmer-leaders will serve three-year terms directing the investment of their Research and Promotion Council’s checkoff programs.
The open commodity councils’ positions include:
Barley Research and Promotion Council:
Open position in District 3
Beef Research and Promotion Council:
Open positions in Districts 1, 4, 5, 7 and 8
Corn Research and Promotion Council: Open positions in Districts 7, 8 and 9
One open position in the combined 1, 2 and 4th Districts
Soybean Research and Promotion Council:
Open positions in Districts 4, 7 and 8
One open position in the combined 1, 2 and 3rd Districts
One open position in the combined 5th and 6th Districts
Wheat Research and Promotion Council:
Open positions in Districts 1, 2 and 3
