Blog: Farmfest forums provide names, not much else
The Forum Tent at Day 1 of Farmfest ‘08 promises to be just as heated as the outside temperature.
At 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 5, the candidates for Norm Coleman’s Senate seat will square off in a forum on agriculture and rural issues.
This will be the first time the two front runners — Norm Coleman and Al Franken — will meet face to face.
Later that same day, candidates for the U.S. House districts representing Minnesota will inform the ag public on their views of agriculture and rural issues.
Eleven congressional candidates have been invited to participate in this forum. This means, if they all show, don’t expect a lot of substance to the day. With that many on the panel, it will be hard for them to get much of a point across in the time they are allowed. By the time they each offer their name and a little background, they’ve already wasted a half hour.
I’m sure they will be sticking around after the official forum to allow you the chance to get up close and personal with the candidates. That should allow you time and space to find out what they really feel and believe.
